The Seth Thomas Company was officially incorporated in 1853. It is one of the most prolific and long lived clock companies. Some interesting trivia about Seth Thomas clocks: the Grand Central Station Terminal clock in New York was manufactured by the company. Also, the wall clock in the Gary Cooper classic film, "High Noon" was a Seth Thomas piece. Another intriguing thing worth mentioning is that many of the 1881 to 1918 models have an ink-stamped date code on the back of the case or the bottom of the clock. But the year is often done in reverse, followed by a letter A-L.
